The Romaire’s: Forever in Love

This Couple Waited 70 years to Take Their Wedding Photos

What is an occasion without any photos or -- it feels incomplete right? As photos are the only memories, we can hold onto.

High school sweethearts Ferris and Margaret Romaire had a 15-minute simple ceremony when they got married on Nov. 24, 1946. But they had a problem -- no one had a camera to take photos of their special day.

It was their granddaughter's idea to create memorable wedding pictures of her grandparents -- and would you believe that these photos are 70 years in the making? Yes, they are!

During their 1946 wedding, no one thought on bringing a camera.

Amanda Kleckley got in touch with photographer Lara Carte, and the two decided to have a photo shoot of the couple for their 70th wedding anniversary.

So on October 12th, a beautiful day in Pearland, Texas, the Ferris and Margaret re-enact their special day -- dressed wearing a tux and a gown, sipped champagne, and even bought some photographs from their relationship's early years, and the result was truly adorable.

They celebrated their 70th Anniversary.

"You can see the love between them in just the way they interact with each other and laugh together," photographer Carter said.

The ridiculously cute couple even shared some of the secrets of their love story during the photo shoot.

And the ceremony ended with their “Sealed with a kiss.”

The couple has four children, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren, and the Romaires still live in the home they built for their family in Morgan City, Louisiana, 65 years ago.
