Stranger Knocks In Woman's House, Looks At Security Camera Then Leaves $1,500

Have you ever experienced losing something that was valuable?

We all know the feeling of being sad, devastated and depressed. Usually, happens when you go out for a nice dinner with family or friends, everything is going good, you get ready to go home and when you arrive, check your bag or pocket. Just like that, a wave of panic cancels everything.

Apparently, you left your wallet at the restaurant! Still, this doesn’t have to be at just a restaurant—the world presents us plenty of opportunities to lose our wallets - everywhere is possible!

Tyler Opdyke and Melissa Vang.

When we lose things, we rarely get them back.

But a Sacramento California, woman named Melissa Vang had lost her wallet—or rather, her husband had.

Melissa said that her husband had unintentionally dropped the wallet on the way back to his car after an errand. While a stolen or lost wallet may often means getting a new driver’s license and canceling credit cards, their situation was far worse. Melissa and her husband had $1,500 in the wallet which they were absolutely sure they would never see it again.

18 year old Tyler Opdyke.

As luck would have it, a Good Samaritan turned the entire situation around.

18-year-old Tyler Opdyke was out handing out fliers for his uncle’s business, saw the wallet lying on the ground.
Although that the cash was very tempting for any person, Tyler knew he had to do the right thing.

“I just really thought about what I would want someone to do if I were to drop my wallet. And then I thought about the house. I thought about the family who lived there.”

Tyler returned a wallet with $1500 cash.

Tyler then approached the Vang's doorstep and knocked on the door. Seeing that the house had security cameras installed, Tyler held the wallet up to view, turning it over and around to reveal that all the money was still in it. Despite his knocking, Melissa was hesitant to come to the door:

“I don’t open my door to strangers or anyone really that I don’t know or recognize. So after he walked away, I checked my camera.”

Tyler left the wallet and began to walk away—just as Melissa and her two daughters came out of the house.

Tyler was the rewarded $150 for his honesty.

Overcome with gratitude, Melissa gave Tyler a big hug for doing the right thing. As it turns out, Tyler was even rewarded for his kindness with $150! Not bad, if you ask us. Stories like these remind us the importance of doing good, especially in situations when nobody is watching.

There are still good people in this world.

“How wonderful it is that nobody need wait a single moment before starting to improve the world.”
