A German Couple Transformed The School Bus Into Loft-On-Wheels Home

School Bus is not only used as a mode of transportation, as it can also be used as a mobile home -- school bus converted into Loft On Wheels.

Meet the Artistic German couple, Felix Starck and Selima Taibi. They bought the 1996 Thomas International yellow school bus for $9,000 and converted it into a small, loft-style home on wheels.

Their converted Loft Type home is not only for the two of them but for their Bernese mountain dog, Rudi, who couldn’t handle to go up and down on the stairs anymore.

Selima said that they knew that had to build something that will fit their life styles, and they thought that the school bus was the perfect one. They flew to the US to renovate the bus and transform it into their mobile home, which took three months in the making.

Remaking the interior into a livable space

Though the couple doesn't have much construction experience, they found help through online forums and YouTube videos. They got help from a North Carolina couple, who also transformed a school bus for their residence as well.

They started reusing salvaged materials like pallet wood, remaking the interior into a livable space. They've placed the dining and work table at the front as the couple wanted to feel the place as open as possible.

Though the renovation costs between $60,000 and $70,000, the couple ensured their unit was equipped with running water, electricity, and propane; their kitchen with a sink, stove, and refrigerator. They custom built the bathroom, installed a shower with handmade tiles, and their very own master bedroom with a flat-screen TV.

Felix, Selima and Rudi are currently driving their loft-on-wheels on their way from Alaska down to Central America, which they’ve dubbed their adventure, “Expedition Happiness.”

One encouragement tip from Selima for those who are inspired to have a tiny moving wheels: "Don’t give up -- you are capable of much more than you think ― YouTube tutorials! But also don’t hesitate to get a pro to do the important stuff like electric, propane or plumbing. You don’t want to get your bus burned down or flooded.”

The couple are considering either to sell or do a lottery for the bus

Felix and Selima are now heading to Panama after visiting Grand Canyon. However, they are considering either to sell or do a lottery for the bus, as they are not sure if it's the right one to use once they head off to South America.

Thanks guys for showing us your artistic side! Your wheels are truly awesome!

“What an artist is trying to do for people is bring them closer to something, because of course art is about sharing. You wouldn't be an artist unless you wanted to share an experience, a thought.”
