Helping other people makes Jon Bon Jovi feel good.
Jon Bon Jovi Feels Good Doing Good.
Jon Bon Jovi is a huge rockstar filling stadiums with screaming fans. There's no wonder he is using his appeal and financial resources to help the needy, especially the homeless, through his JBJ Soul Kitchen restaurants.
They created their first JBJ Soul Kitchen in 2011 in Red Bank, New Jersey.
Together with his wife, Bon Jovi created their first JBJ Soul Kitchen in 2011 in Red Bank, New Jersey. The purpose of this is to provide quality meals to anyone in need in the community. People who dine are asked to pay a suggested donation that covers their meal and someone else's meal, too, if they cannot afford it, they're asked to volunteer. Most of the labor is donated, as is nearly all of the food.
Hunger doesn't look like what your mind's eye might imagine.
For Dorothea Hurley, Bon Jovi's wife, hunger doesn't look like what your mind's eye might imagine. "It's the people at your church. It's the kids that go to school with your kids. And I think that was eye-opening for a lot of the community here that said, 'Oh, there are no homeless people here.'"
The couple wish to feed students striving to pay for food.
The couple has expanded to a second location in Toms River, N.J. A third will open on the campus of Rutgers University, where they wish to feed students striving to pay for food. "We all think it's a rite of passage," said Bon Jovi: "To study hard and eat ramen noodles. How about if it's the only thing you can afford?"
They'll keep opening more JBJ Soul Kitchens as long as there's a necessity.
