Hurting Owl In the Wild

What would you do if you see something different on the side of the road? Would you go and check it out or would you continue driving?

For Marcia Wilson and her family, who was driving along an Oklahoma highway saw something moving on the side of the road. Curiosed as she was, she then asked her husband to turn their truck around so she could check it out.

Marcia thought something is wrong.

What Marcia saw out of the corner of her eye was an owl -- a Great Horned owl. She noticed that the bird was hurt, and couldn't fly. The mother of two, who loves animals, hates to see any animal suffer was determined to help the poor owl.

Marcia said that it wasn't easy to go near the hurting owl. She also said that when she started to walk towards him, the owl tried flying away but couldn't.

Marcia covered “Mr. Al’ using her daughter’s blanket.

Her husband, on the other hand, got out of the truck and helped Marcia by throwing a blanket over the owl to allow her to pick the owl up. Once the owl was secure, the family then drove to Wild Heart Ranch, a wildlife rehabilitation center in Claremore Oklahoma to get help for their new found friend.

Marcia said. The whole way there I held him swaddled in the blanket, and he looked at me and blinked," she added. "He never tried getting away; he just looked so thankful," On the way, to the rehabilitation center Marcia named the owl, "Mr. Al".

The Wilson’s immediately brought “Mr. Al” to Wild Heart Ranch.

Now Mr. Al is currently recovering at the rescue center as he sustained a head injury but is expected to pull through and make a complete recovery.

Thank you, Marcia, for helping the poor owl and for sharing this story.
