Homeless Man Surprised Roofers With His Work Ethics

Diligence, hard work, and virtue say it all. A man who is dedicated to his work, whatever job he has, inhibits a good character.

A man named John, from London, spends his nights on a park bench with no soft bed to sleep on. One day, a group of guys from a roofing company were working on a nearby house and offered the homeless man a cup of tea.

John was the first to come at work and last to leave.

John happily accepted the tea and then asked if they needed any help. They said yes that they could use a pair of hands cleaning up around the job site.

The next day, John showed up at the job site and worked nonstop alongside with the full-time craftsmen. He was the first one to show up that morning and the last to leave.

The roofers bought John a meal from Burger King, and he quietly ate, seemed to be delighted with a look of complete contentment on his face.

The tradesmen were amazed by John’s work ethics.

They had agreed to pay their new workmate £15 which is enough to last him for the whole week John said. But the men couldn't just let him walk away with only £15 . They each contributed and gave John additional £55, a total of £70, and that's not all: they also offered him a job for the following Monday.

John told the kind roofers before leaving: "Thanks, brothers, it's the most love I've ever had."

Jayjay Murray, one of the tradesmen, posted the entire encounter on Facebook where it quickly went viral.

The kind men bought John a meal from Burger King.

"His gratitude was a real eye-opener. Keep going John, got to be something good around the corner. Nobody willing to work should be living on the streets,” Jayjay said.

According to the Empire Roofing Facebook page, lots of people have offered John a place to stay for free after reading the post. Sharing his story online, the Hertfordshire roofing company said: “We can’t believe how this selfless gesture from the Empire team has gone so far. “We couldn’t be prouder of the team, well-done boys.”

Way to go boys! Your kindness made a homeless man be recognized for his hard work.

“It’s all right to tell a man to lift himself by his own bootstraps, but it is cruel jest to say to a bootless man that he ought to lift himself by his own bootstraps.”

- Martin Luther King Jr.
