France's Young Soccer Star Donates His First World Cup Winnings to Charity

A budding soccer star has just donated his first World Cup winnings to a charity.

Meet Kylian Mbappé.

The charity Mbappé is said to have chosen helps get children who are hospitalized or have disabilities into sport.

Kylian Mbappé has a World Cup that made pundits drool.

The 19-year-old player scored four goals in seven games and amazed fans with his fast pace and composure even if under extreme pressure, and gave France a world cup victory.

Sports Illustrated estimated Mbappé's wages to be about £17,000 ($22,500) a game, as well as a £265,000 ($350,000) bonus for winning the tournament. France played seven games throughout the World Cup, so Mbappé's earnings most likely totaled just over $500,000 — but he won't spend a penny of it.

L'Equipe reported that the French star was donating his winnings to Premiers de Cordée, a charity that offers sporting opportunities to children who are hospitalized or have disabilities.

French President Emmanuel Macron awards Kylian Mbappe of France with the FIFA Young Player Award.

Premiers de Cordée general manager, Sebastien Ruffin,  described Kylian: "He's a great person. When his schedule allows it, he intervenes for us with pleasure."

Ruffin added that Mbappé also had a "very good" relationship with the children in the institution and that he would always find the right words to encourage them.

Mbappé caught the attention of the soccer legend, Pelé, after he became the second-youngest player in history to score in a World Cup final. They exchange messages on Twitter Mbappé's with class and humility.

"He is the guy who will be standing up on that Ballon d'Or podium in years to come," the former Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand said after the final.

Kylian Mbappé is not only a sports icon but also a hero for the children and their families he had helped thru his donation.
