Boy Sells All His Toys For Sale To Save His Beloved Service Dog

A friendship between a dog and his human is incomparable. Love beyond reason and care were given to each other. They build a strong relationship and bond that is somewhat unbreakable.

Just like our featured story about the friendship between a boy and his service dog.

Copper

A Doberman named Copper, is a registered service and emotional support dog, who gives 10-year-old Connor Jayne support, companionship, and security. Copper had helped the boy to improve his life. And now it is Connor's time to do the same to save his friend canine's life.

Connor has been diagnosed with PTSD, anxiety, ADHD, chronic headache disorder, and he also suffers from nocturnal seizures. It is Connor's last health condition for which Copper was especially helpful. The boy’s family discovered that Connor was having seizures after the Doberman woke Connor’s mother, Jennifer Jayne, by barking one night and led her to the seizing boy.

Best buddies for life.

So when Connor discovered the dog who is focused on making sure he feels good was feeling bad, Connor sprang into action. The boy’s family recently brought Copper to the vet and discovered he may have Wobbler Disease - a disease that affects the spinal cord and makes it difficult for animals to walk. The service dog will need a lot of tests, treatments and possibly an MRI and surgery to treat the issue.

Connor’s yard sale.

To help contribute to Copper’s feel better fund, Connor recently hosted a yard sale filled with his toys in Fairport, New York. The money he raised will be used to pay the 4-year-old canine’s medical tests (which have already amounted to over $2,500 in expenses), physical therapy sessions and any additional treatments.

Currently, Copper is undergoing laser therapy sessions to treat his mobility issues. The dog’s vet is hopeful that this therapy will be enough to get Copper moving fully again.

Copper’s treatment

A lot of people also helped. Fellow animal lovers have donated to Copper’s care through the dog’s GoFundMe page, where any extra funds will also be donated to other animals in need.

Copper’s journey to recovery.

Jayne is grateful to all who have helped, including Connor, to ensure that Copper gets the assistance he deserves after years of caring for others.

“When I look into the eyes of an animal I do not see an animal. I see a living being. I see a friend. I feel a soul.”
