Adopted Rescue Dog Saves Family from Gas Leak

Dogs are one of the bravest and faithful animals ever. That's why we humans, love and adore them and treat them like family.

Just like this brave dog who saved her humans from impending danger.

Greta was a rescue dog adopted by Ken Walsh.

At 3 a.m., Greta the German Shepherd was crying and whining relentlessly. Ken Walsh, her owner checked her and had no idea why his dog wasn't sleeping. He tried to quiet and tame his dog down, but she just would not settle.

Greta continued to make a fuss and wanted her owner come with her to the kitchen. Walsh was baffled about what was happening but he went along with Greta anyway.

At that moment, he smelled something that was just awful. He smelled propane, they had a gas leak!

Thinking quickly for their safety, Walsh together with his wife and 14-year-old son managed to get outside the house. He credits their dog for saving their lives.

Greta was a 5-year-old rescue dog that the Walsh family adopted. The dog didn't have a home prior due to behavioral issues. Lucky for Greta, Walsh is a dog trainer and is starting a non-profit for animals in need.

"All it would have taken was a spark. It was very scary after I got a chance to sit down and think about it," Walsh said remembering that night.

It was later discovered the propane stove was leaking gas into the air. It was likely one of the family's five dogs bumped the stove when jumping up for a treat.

They could never thank her enough for what she did for them. So as a reward for being their lifesaver and hero, Walsh gave Greta a steak and a treat.

Good job Greta! This proves that dogs never fail to love us unconditionally especially if we treat them accordingly.

“Dogs do speak, but only to those who know how to listen.”
