92-Year Old Marine Is Bride's "Something Blue"

Do you have an idea what "something blue" means in a wedding tradition? Well, just hold onto your heartstrings because there's a bride who just gave a whole new meaning to her wedding tradition --"something blue."

Meet Allison Ferrel who got married last May 13, 2017, with her husband, Matthew. They were surrounded by her family and closest friends, but there's only one guest that stood out from the rest of them. Do you want to know who? It's Ferrel's 92-year-old uncle, Bill Lee Eblen.

He was a former sergeant in the United States Marine Corps during World War II and was escorted down the aisle in his Dress Blues.

Ferrel was saying: "Once I got engaged, I always wanted to include my Uncle Bill, or as social media now calls him, 'Uncle Blue,' in a special way." Coming from a close-knit family where I was taught to have respect and admiration for those in the armed services, this felt like a natural choice, to have Uncle Bill there in his dress blues."

Severe pneumonia caused his Uncle to extend in the rehab. But for him, making it to her niece's wedding was anything but easy. His illness made something clear -- Ferrel wanted and needed her uncle to be a part of her wedding ceremony.

She even asked him to be her "something blue" while he fought pneumonia in the hospital. It was his niece's request that pulled him through his illness. A nurse asking Eblen in his hospital bed --

"What's your goal?" And the old man answered: "To be her 'something blue' on her wedding day."

The brave marine pulled through and with flying colors — blue colors

The brave marine pulled through and with flying colors — blue colors, so to speak! Ferrel shared their photos on Facebook with a caption, "It was such an honor to have him serve as my 'something blue' on my wedding day [for] a memory that will last a lifetime."

The post went viral, and there were thousands of comments with one woman saying: "This gave me goosebumps and teary eyes:. And another one commented: "You are a beautiful bride. What a wonderful moment.

Thank him for his service". Thank you for sharing this beautiful and very touching moment!
